I've been sitting on this one for awhile, simply due to length (I tend to avoid long books). I knew it would be great thanks to the GR reviews and, yeah, it is. I read it in 1 day, so the length did not end up being an issue at all.
I loved Matt and Jared's story and Zach and Angelo's, earlier in this series. I think Matt and Jared's is still my favorite due to the large amount of UST that book build up. But Strawberries for Dessert is definitely a strong second. Normally if the characters start having sex right away, I get a little bored with the rest of the book's progression, but that isn't the case here.
The author used a really interesting technique -- in the early sex scenes, where it is 'just sex', the scenes are pretty much off page. Initially that surprised me since normally Marie Sexton is fairly explicit. But later on in the story, once the sex truly became 'making love', the sex scenes become explicit (and lovely). That was a great choice by the author and it worked smashingly.
I also liked the choice of showing everything from Jon's POV except Cole's letters to Jared. Given that Cole was the more interesting/flamboyant character and Jon the 'every man', that kept the book interesting.
I just loved the character growth in this (though Jon was a bit annoying initially, he was so uptight). And the writing is just smooth, smooth, smooth. I couldn't stop reading until I was done.
Bravo.
